How to translate the app content

If your store sells in more than one language, you can translate the text your customers see in the Wishlist — buttons, messages, empty states, and more.

There are two places this text lives, and they work a little differently:

• Theme content — most of the text on your wishlist page and buttons (like button labels, empty-state messages, "Added to cart" text) is set as regular theme content in the Theme Editor. Translate it the same way you translate any other theme text — using Shopify's Translate and adapt app (Online Store → Themes → Edit languages).

• App Translations page — a smaller set of texts can't be translated through the Theme Editor, either because they appear inside the Customer Account page (which Translate and adapt doesn't cover) or because they're shared pieces of text used across the app rather than a single block setting. These are managed from inside Refactor+ Wishlist itself, on the Translations page.

Where to find it

Open the R+ Wishlist app and go to Translations in the left-hand menu.

You'll also see a note about this page in the Theme Editor, at the bottom of the settings for any wishlist block.

How the page is organized

At the top right, there's a language selector (1). It lists English (your store's default) plus every language you've added under Shopify's Store languages settings.

Below that are two tabs:

• Customer account (2) — text shown in the wishlist block and wishlist page inside the customer's account (My Wishlists, empty state, share dialog, clear-list dialog, etc.)
• App default text (3) — smaller shared text used across the storefront wishlist (the singular/plural word after item counts, table headers, share dialog, clear-list confirmation, the login button, and so on)

Each tab is split into collapsible groups — click a group's title bar to expand or collapse it.

Editing text

When English (Default) is selected

Each row shows one field with:

• Left column — the app's built-in default text (read-only)
• Right column — an optional custom override. Leave it empty to keep the app's default; type your own text to replace it store-wide, for every language.

If you clear a field completely, that element will be hidden on the storefront for all languages — you'll see a note under the field confirming this. This is useful for hiding something you don't want to show at all, but keep in mind it affects every language, not just English.

When another language is selected

Each row shows:

• Left column — the English text (your default, or your override if you set one) — read-only
• Right column — the translation for the selected language

Each group shows a badge like 3/6 Translated so you can see progress at a glance. If the English version of a field is hidden (left empty), the translation field is disabled too, since there's nothing to translate.

Predefined translations

For some languages, Refactor+ Wishlist ships with ready-made translations for common fields. If any are available for the language you're viewing, you'll see a banner:

Predefined [Language] translations available Fill empty fields with built-in [Language] translations. Existing text is never overwritten.

Click Add predefined translations to fill in any empty fields for that language. It only fills in blanks — anything you've already typed is left untouched. You can run it again later if new fields show up.

Right-to-left languages

If you select a right-to-left language (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Urdu, and a few others), the translation input automatically switches to right-to-left text direction, so typing feels natural.

Keep placeholders as-is

A few fields include a placeholder in curly braces, for example:

Shared by {{ name }}

Keep {{ name }}  exactly as written when translating — it gets automatically replaced with the actual name of the person who shared the wishlist. Everything else in the sentence can be translated freely.

Saving your changes

As soon as you make a change, a save bar appears at the top of the page.

• Save applies your changes immediately.
• Discard reverts everything back to the last saved version.

If someone else on your team saved changes to the same section while you were editing, you'll see a message asking you to reload the page and re-apply your edits — this prevents one person's changes from silently overwriting another's.
